Bible Classes
Sunday morning
and Wednesday night classes are provided for all ages. A
curriculum has been designed to cover Bible subjects which
we believe are most needed by the various ages.
Youth Activities
We are committed
to enjoyable and enriching activities for our youth. Extra
classes are held from time to time, as well as
recreational activities. Our youth are taken to youth
rallies when we know the activities will be suitable. (We
do not participate in Winterfest.)
Palmetto Bible Camp
Many of our young
people go to Palmetto Bible Camp (north of Greenville,
SC). The camp is under different directors from week to
week. The elders encourage attendance during certain
weeks.
Carolina Men's
Fellowship
Beginning in 1999
Charlotte Avenue has hosted an annual gathering of men
from all over the Carolinas. The number in attendance
continues to grow and we have had to rent a larger
facility. It is held on the second Saturday of March, with
powerful preaching and singing, as well as a catered
lunch. On the next day one of the guest speakers is
scheduled to begin a gospel meeting series at Charlotte
Avenue.

Men's Fellowship.
Vacation Bible School
Our annual
one-day, all-day, Vacation Bible School is held on a
Saturday in the summer. The program consists of skits of
Bible stories produced by adults for the children. There
are also short classes to impress the lessons and
recreational activities.
Service Teams
Members who want
to participate are divided into Service Teams. These teams
often provide lunch for visitors after the Sunday morning
worship. They also provide setup and cleanup for other
church social functions. On most first-Sunday nights we
have a snack fellowship for everyone following the evening
worship.
Financial Support of
Missions
A considerable
part of our budget is for the support of missions. At the
present regularly monthly support is being sent to:
Kiev, Ukraine; E. Tennessee School of Preaching;
Lancaster, SC; Preacher school in Haiti; Southeastern Children's Home.
Total mission budget for 2004 is $48,000.
Benevolence
We maintain a
food pantry to assist needy people who contact us for
help. We must limit monetary assistance. During September
- May we have a monthly Feed the Hungry program in which
meals are distributed to destitute people in parts of Rock
Hill. Several other area churches are involved in this
same project. Our cooperation with them involves exchange
of information and coordination of schedules.
Publications
A bulletin is
published for every Sunday and distributed at the
services. Usually a copy will be mailed to members who
were absent. We encourage the reading of sound magazines
and journals. The church sends the following publications
to members who request them: Carolina Messenger (monthly,
our preacher is the editor); Gospel Minutes (weekly);
Gospel Advocate (monthly); Spiritual Sword (quarterly, our
preacher is a regular writer).
Assemblies for Worship
Hebrews 10:25
tells us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves
together. Worship is essential and every member is
encouraged to be at every service. This includes meetings
on the Lord's Day and other occasions when the church is
called together (Wednesday nights, gospel meetings, etc.)
Questions are sometimes
asked about proper attire. There are no rules about dress
except modesty. Shorts and short skirts or other
provocative apparel are out of place.
